Aaron Conrad - Actor - Headshots

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved being creative. Whether it was watching Mr. Dressup on TV and learning how to create amazing works of art out of egg cartons and pipe cleaners, or dressing up in my Mom's clothes and putting putting on musicals for anyone who I could convince to watch me. Needless to say, being an only child, I developed an active imagination very early on.

As I grew up, my love of visual and performance art grew and I sometimes felt torn between them. I spent my high school years running back and forth between the art room and the theatre for after school rehearsals. There was a time when I thought I would become an actor and spend the rest of my life in the theatre working on shows. Lucky for you, my career went in another direction and my passion for photography won above everything else!

I still love the theatre. I love the suspension of disbelief. I love the creative process of an actor. I love late night rehearsals. I love working with other amazing people who share the same passion for theatre. To this day some of my very best friends are the people that I met in the theatre.

Meet Aaron Conrad.
My friend since high school, fellow cast member in numerous shows, and a professional actor here in Calgary, Alberta.

Carmen and Chantel - Kids portrait session

Jessica + Rob - Wedding Calgary, Alberta

Finally I have the opportunity to post photos from Jessica and Rob's wedding last Saturday! I had SO many favorites to process that it took a little bit longer than usual. I promise they are worth the wait!!!

Jessica and Rob were referred to me by their friends Evie and Chris, who you might remember from this post of their wedding. I had the pleasure of photographing Chris again as he was one of Rob's very handsome groomsmen.

We started the day getting ready with Jessica, her 3 sisters, and Nance, her maid of Honor.

I love this shot of her gorgeous dress with the architecture of the roof.
The lace and crystal beading on the bodice of her dress was exquisite. Jessica sparkled all day long!
Check out the super sexy high heels that all of the girls wore. I don't know how they managed all day and night. My feet were SO sore by the end of the night - and I was wearing ballet flats!

Jessica and her Dad walked down the aisle to the most beautiful sound of the harpist playing.

The church was only a few blocks away from Jessica and Rob's house and they wanted a few pictures that captured the neighborhood where they live. The canopy of tress made a beautiful backdrop to capture the first few kisses as husband and wife.

I love having two photographers at weddings! The above images were taken through the grass by my second shooter Amy, while I captured the ones below.

Jessica is a such a beautiful girl inside and out, but I have to admit she made a stunning bride.
Here's the little doll face again.
One of my signature environmental shots, that I loooove.
We only had a few minutes to take these photographs on the train tracks before the city police showed up! Thank you to the charming police officer who let us go with just a warning.
No one can resist a beautiful girl in a wedding dress!

My new motto: It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission!
One of my favorites from the day. I think this was the moment just before we heard the police siren signaling the end of our session on the tracks.

Jessica and Rob were such a delight to photograph. They are so in love! I love Jessica's smile in this image, like just the anticipation of Rob's kiss is enough to make her the happiest woman in the world.
Congratulations!
I am SO happy for you both!

Mmmm, red walls and texture! Does it get any better?
Another one of my favorites.
A little champagne in the limo to get the party started early!
Their reception was held at the Newport Grill on Lake Bonavista. Incredible food, amazing atmosphere, and seriously one of the all-time best receptions I have ever been to! Award for most entertaining performance goes to Tom, groomsman and MC extraordinaire.
I think what made the biggest impact on me was the overwhelming amount of emotions felt throughout the night. I have never laughed so hard or teared up so much at one wedding. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to witness such a huge out pouring of love from all of their friends and family who spoke that night. The emotion could be felt throughout the entire room and no one was left untouched. I feel like I now have a much deeper understanding of who Rob and Jessica are and why they are a perfect fit for each other.
Cheers to you both!
After Rob's toast to Jessica, the entire room sprang to their feet to give them a standing ovation.
One of my other favorite parts of the day... wedding cake!
Last but not least, their first dance as husband and wife - I love the flash flare!
